How to run a card show, step by step

Whether it's your first trade night or your tenth expo, every show comes down to the same seven jobs. Here's what each one takes, and where Treasure handles the busywork.

  1. Pick your date and venue

Choose a room that fits your table count with wide customer aisles, easy load-in, parking, and power for vendors who need it. Before you sign, check what else is happening nearby that weekend so you aren't splitting the same collectors.

    On Treasure

Browse upcoming shows by date and state to spot conflicts before you commit.

    Browse upcoming shows →
  2. Set table and ticket prices

Price vendor tables by size and placement, and decide whether corner spots, extra chairs, or electricity are paid add-ons. For admission, pair general entry with an early-bird option, and decide up front whether kids get in free.

    On Treasure

Add ticket types, table types, add-ons, special guests, and sponsors to one event page.

    See event pages →
  3. Recruit and approve vendors

A good mix of sports, Pokémon, TCG, and supply vendors keeps attendees walking the whole floor. Use an application so you can screen dealers, collect table payments, and keep a waitlist ready for last-minute cancellations.

    On Treasure

Custom vendor applications, approvals, payments, and table assignments, with a full vendor CRM.

    See vendor management →
  4. Map the floor

Lay out tables, aisles, entrances, and signing areas before you assign anyone. A published map helps attendees find the vendors they came for and gives premium spots a clear reason to cost more.

    On Treasure

Build an interactive venue map with the AI assistant, assign vendors to tables, and publish it to your event page.

    Design your map →
  5. Promote the show

Share your event page wherever your collectors already gather: local hobby groups, Instagram, Discord servers, and card shops in town. Ask every confirmed vendor to post it too, and send reminders as the date gets close.

    On Treasure

Your show is listed in the Treasure directory. Schedule email blasts ahead of time and text vendors their table assignments.

See email + SMS blasts →
  6. Work the door on show day

Plan check-in so lines keep moving: vendors first, then early entry, then general admission. Have a way to take card payments for walk-ups, and keep a printed floor map at the entrance.

    On Treasure

Scan tickets, check in vendors, and take walk-up payments with Tap to Pay in the free Treasure Events app.

  7. Close out and book the next one

Review revenue, ticket sales, and traffic while the show is fresh, and ask vendors what worked. Lock in your next date early so returning vendors can rebook before they commit elsewhere.

    On Treasure

Real-time analytics and payouts in one dashboard, and you can duplicate your event to start the next show.

How do I start a card show?

Pick a date and a venue that fits your table count, set table and ticket prices, then open vendor applications. Once vendors are confirmed, map the floor, promote your event page, and plan your door. On Treasure you can start a free listing as a draft and go live when the details are ready.

How much does it cost to run a card show?

Your main costs are the venue, tables and chairs, insurance, signage, and promotion, so set your table and ticket prices with those in mind. Listing on Treasure is free, and you pay a service fee only on what you sell, starting at 4% + $0.50 per transaction on the Basic plan.

How should I price vendor tables?

Start from what comparable shows in your area charge, then price by table size and placement. Corner and entrance tables can carry a premium, and extras like chairs or electricity can be sold as add-ons.

How do I find vendors for my card show?

Start with dealers you know from local shops and shows, post your vendor application in hobby groups, and list your show where vendors look for tables. A published venue map shows new vendors exactly where they'd be set up.

When do I get paid?

On the Basic plan, available funds are sent on the day of your event, though some may be held briefly while payments process. Starter and Pro plans pay out weekly.

Can attendees find specific vendors at my show?

Yes. Your interactive venue map is searchable by vendor and category. With Treasure Hunt, collectors build a wishlist, vendors mark what they carry, and both get pointed to the right table.

Your next card show starts with a free listing.

Start a draft, add your tickets and tables, and go live when you're ready.
